Jute is considered to be the key driver of Bangladesh economy as most of the south-western regions of Bangladesh produce jute abundantly. Our major foreign currency earning crop is jute. By exporting jute, each year, Bangladesh earns huge amount of foreign currency. This foreign currency helps drive our economy. That's why it is called the driving force of our economy.

To renovate the dilapidated existing jute sector, the government of Bangladesh has taken some initiatives. This initiative is called BMRE project. BMRE project includes 'Balancing, modernization, rehabilitation and expansion' for the state-owned shabby jute mills at a cost of $350 million.

"Stray initiatives" stands for unplanned efforts or efforts that are taken to revamp or to modernize something without prior preparation. So stray initiatives are the fortuitous initiatives to mend something.

Allocated funds for the jute industry will give some incentives. But the big chunk of the allocated funds should be for the research and the development work of jute which in turns will explore new diversifications in jute products.

Imagination is more important that knowledge

Imagination and knowledge are two unusual concepts to compare, as they both define and represent not just different things, but contrasting ideals. Knowledge is the definitive act of knowing something through familiarization with facts, information, descriptions or skill acquired through experience or education. Knowledge is universally regarded as truth. Imagination, on the other hand, somewhat like knowledge is an abstract concept to define, it is personal and subjective. It is the mind's ability to create images, sounds, feelings or sensations without the use of any of the five conscious senses-hearing, seeing, feeling, smelling or tasting.

Television was invented by John Baird in 1925 and was at first made from a lantern inside a biscuit container with lenses, timber and cord. The first television broadcast aired in 1930, even though it did not generate colored images until 1958 in the USA. Models kept on to be upgraded and bit by bit advanced quality picture and audio were available because flaws could be determined as imagination developed. Johann Gutenberg also imagined the innovatory printing press after observing an easy olive press. He invented this point and labor saving device for printing same text on several pieces of paper in about 1443. Though all of these inventions used already acquired knowledge, they took what was identified as a quantum step ahead. This required good imagination. Advancements in technology rely on the growth of new concepts to solve problems which are born by imagination.

In our language essays we use imagination to come up with brilliant and interesting stories. Knowledge here plays a small or rather no role here, because if you had knowledge and no imagination then all would be in vain. It's through imagination that we escape the world of reality for a second. Great films come about as a result of brilliant imagination and it's due to this imagination that a movie sells many copies. Knowledge is only what we know but imagination does not have a limit as you can imagine of anything both practical or not. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more dominant than facts. That hopes always triumph over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I consider that love is stronger than death. Great philosophers have the same line of thought as I do and I still strongly believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge.

Single Digit Interest Rate in the banking sector: Problems and Prospects

Bringing the interest rate down to the single digit is such a welcome move according to the investors. But the depositors are not satisfied with this news as the rates of deposits will also decline making them less privileged. So single digit interest rate in the banking sector has some positive and negative effects. Currently private banks are lending at between 14% and 15%. The average rate of interest for deposits is between 9% and 10%. Owners of private commercial banks have recently decided to bring down the interest rate on lending to 9% and that on deposits to 6% from the existing levels. Interest rate for the three-month term deposit will be 6% and the lending interest rate will be 9%. No bank will charge an interest higher than this. According to some bankers this initiatives will create an industry friendly environment, new entrepreneurs, generate employment and accelerate trade and business.

Prospects: Bringing the lending rate down to a single digit is a good and timely decision for the country's private sector investors. This will help gain the investment needed for the expansion of existing businesses as well as for new enterprises. The expected outcome of the decision is that private sector investors will get loans at lower interest rates and this will increase private sector investment. Lower rate of interest raises the investment. More investment generates employment and employment raises the aggregate demand. Thus, an economy can gear up it's dilapidated state by lowering the rate of interest. If the cost of fund declines, producers can easily provide goods and services at a cheaper rate. And bringing down interest rate to single digit is supposed to lower the cost of fund. According to the Bangladesh Bureau of statistics, the contribution of investment to GDP was 30.51% in the 2017-18 fiscal years, of which 23.10% came from private investment and 7.41% from public investment. The budget for 2018-19 set the target to improve the ratio of investment to GDP to 33.54%, of this 25.15% is expected to come from the private sector and 8.39% from the public sector. So single digit interest rate is likely to help boosting investment.

Problems: Bangladesh Bank data show that more than 100 million account holders deposit money in 57 banks. Total deposit in December 2017 was taka 9,26, 179 crore. At the end of March 2018, the amount stood at taka 9,25,160 crore. The depositors have withdrawn nearly a thousand crore taka due to the lower interest rate. So the decision to cut down interest rates is likely to discourage clients form depositing money in the banks and the continued disbursement of loans and a decline deposit will led to liquidity crisis in the banking sector. Some economists opined that the slashing interest rates could trigger more liquidity crisis, which in turn could jeopardize the plan to reduce the lending rate.

In fine, it can be said that if the central bank wants to minimize the spread between lending and borrowing rate, it should maintain a contractionary monetary policy. Only lowering prevailing interest rate will not curb the banking problems out. Demand for money largely depends on interest rate, but on the hand depositors get no incentives on lower interest rate. So government should take a balance measure in the financial sector.

It is not a matter of individual or aggregate utility, income or wealth, rather ability development of one's variegated takes points out the relative rights of human being. It does not need to take the world of mind into account. It depends upon his practical activities based on value- accretion of worthiness. Besides, all these elements are the subjects of practical life and its is possible to bring all of them into an account. It is the matter of main consideration whether the quantitative and the qualitative value-accretion of the social activities along with relative competencies of individual and aggregate has gone up or down.

To accommodate increased people, we need more and more lands. So agricultural lands shrink day by day though there is an astonishing amount of agricultural production. Meeting our national demands, peasants are now able to produce some extra yield for exports. It seems to be a ambivalence! Though cultivable lands are lessening on account of growing population, due to the high yielding varieties and improved fertilizers and by the grace of the Almighty Allah, our farmers are producing foods five to ten times larger the amount they produced two decades ago. Once upon a time, peasants only produced three types of rice. But now-a-days, with the help of the Almighty Allah, they are now able produce 25 items of rice only. There are several types food items and every items have hybrid/cross items. By dint of this hybrid varieties, peasants produce much more foods for the country. So, though agricultural lands are going down rapidly, our farmers feed the nation adequately and provide some extra yield for export.

ই-কমার্সের সুবিধাঃ সুবিধাগুলো হলো- ক) খরচ সাশ্রয় হয় (খ) সময় কম লাগে (গ) লোকবল কম লাগে, এতে পরিবহন ব্যয়ও কমে যায় এবং (ঘ) অভিজ্ঞলোক ই-কমার্সের সাথে জড়িত বলে কাজে-কর্মে গতি আসে ।
